I used this as a check for our weekly MAP practice packets. Students graded their own
packet and scored it accordingly.

Brad Snyder's reflection
A-ha moments- I have tried Google voice with my classes to communicate the means in which they intend to use an upcoming project. During this trial I realized some of the many applications of this technology. I think I can give all students this number as a way to communicate confusions about a topic, so I can prepare to reteach the next day or simply prepare an answer for those unexpected questions. I also saw this as a great way to poll the class. We work out 3-4 MAP questions from a packet each week, and this would be a great way for each student to vote on the questions covered.
Laura Bauer- Google Voice
Students called my Google Voice # and left a message describing how they would use a formula in a real life situation. The messages were fun to listen to and the students seemed to enjoy it. The voice translation needs improvement.

Pryor Audio Project
I used audacity to make a "vocal key" for my students to check each other's weekly MAP packet
that we do on Friday. I will use this tomorrow (2/9/12) in class. I think it will go well. I had some problems getting it to save and reopen on my desktop

I have my audio selection down to either audacity, google voice, or postous. I am still trying to make my decision and brainstorm ideas as to how to incorporate something useful.
Deanne's Reflection
Created a new blog in blogger.com

At the one of the last Elite sessions I had set up a Twitter account. My idea was to use this to inform parents and remind students of the daily assignments done in class. I sent out an email to all parents on our team to inform them of the Twitter account and what was going to be posted. I am still not sure how many parents are using this to stay informed, but I have been reminding students daily to check the account. The account address is www.twitter.com/baumscience6
Now that second semester has started, I have started attaching any powerpoints that includes notes, pictures, or any information needed for class. This way, if a student is absent, they can access the notes they missed through Twitter. Parents can also double check their son's/daughter's work that was done in class. I do know that the notes have been used by two students and my hope is that it catches on with all students.
At the middle school, student devices are far and few between so I haven't had an assignment geared toward student devices. If more student devices show up in the future, I am more than willing to start using those types of assignments.

I originally was in the process of creating a Team Facebook page. After creating and beginning to
work on it, we decided that we did not want a team Facebook page. (This was decided yesterday in Team). I am now trying to weigh the options of an individual classroom page vs an individual blog.
I have not done a lot with the student decives. Students have used their phones several times to look
up the definition of a word up.
I want to start either an individual blog or a facebook page for my own classroom. I need a little more information in order to make a good decision.

Student Devices: The students can use their device as their agenda book. Also, I have an Algebra student who is doing his hw assignments on his iPad and he emails me the work.

Janet's reflection
I have posted two times on my blog sharing what we are doing on team and in math for my parents. I have not used any devices with the children except activities and games on the computer. The address is mrsperleysmathclass.blogspot.com.
Cindy's Reflection
I have been using e-mail because I am not comfortable with social networking yet. The Facebook route has not been successful for me. I plan on trying a blog to speed my daily contact with parents as to what transpired in my class for the day and the homework.
No new student devices have been used. I have stuck with using just the basic Elite screen to work on internet games. Many of my students do not have their own devices. Access to computers for each individual is limited.

Brad Snyder's Reflection
For my public portal, I revised my facebook page. I had started a class page and decided it would be more beneficial to create a Team 7 Green page instead. I also tried to link a youtube lesson to the page to see if it would work. For my advanced classes I tried to introduce to concept of flipping the classroom. I wanted them to try to view a youtube video in class as a test but ran into several difficulties. Initially we were having trouble accessing the network. Some students aren't allowed by their parents to go to youtube, and those that were allowed were usually blocked from the site.
Nichole's reflection
I have a blog that I use to let parents know important things going on in my class.

I am planning with my geometry unit at the end of the month to use the studyblue app for flashcards so the students can review their geometry vocabulary.
