Third Grade Classroom Blog

I started a blog to better communicate with families. I have received a very positive response from the parents in my classroom, and as a result I really don't think I'll ever go back to a paper copy of a newsletter! I have not made a post on it since December because of a death in my family (and being generally overwhelmed), but this weekend I plan on getting back into things. My students also really enjoy having a blog and can't wait for me to post their pictures and video.

In my classroom, I currently have about 9 students that are bringing some sort of personal device and using it each day. At first it was challenging to get each one connected to the wireless internet, and most days they tell me it won't let them connect. Some of my students even try to bring in their Nintendo DSI because it can connect to the internet, but I really don't encourage them to bring those. I have students reading on them during independent reading time, and these devices are really handy when we are doing group work and the class has to share 9 computers. Overall, I really enjoy students bringing in their own devices and let them use them whenever we can. I will definately continue to encourage my students to bring them in the future.
