My newest attempt at "Facebooking" was to create a Facebook page for a club I have created for women aged 50 and over to announce monthly activities throughout St. Louis. Even though the club was originally created for the "mature, older" women at LHS, it is now open to any woman aged 50 and older who wants to make new friendships. The club is called "Nifty at Fifty Club" and can be located on http://www.facebook.com under that title.
As far as experimenting with student devices, I have "discovered" that the LHS library now has the PLAYAWAY available to teachers and students. At present, I am using the PLAYAWAY to play "Romeo and Juliet" to my freshmen students.
As far as student devices I don't use them in class because my students don't have them and if they have some sort of device they don't bring them to school. My students aren't always trusted and some lack the level of responsibility to have a device and bring to school.
ReplyDeleteI did create Facebook pages for two of my classes. In my Communication class I am planning on teaching the students how to use Facebook as a communication tool and internet safety. I have not notified students and parents of my Facebook pages. I created them just before break.

Hi Karon!
ReplyDeleteAs a new member of the five-o club, I take heart from your post. Perhaps I shall start a male auxillary.
