I haven't really tried anything new yet--I still have less than ten followers. :-( However, I have thought about using the page to not only make announcements about gifted programming at LHS but also to post new stories or columns about issues pertaining to gifted education. My hesitation is that since it is an LHS page, not a personal page, I feel like I need to be very careful about what I repost. For example, I read a great story about gifted girls from the Huffington Post, but would Lindbergh want me to repost something from the Huffington Post? Here's the link.
As far as student devices are concerned, I allow students to use their laptops, Kindles, phones, etc., for reading their texts, doing research, and writing papers during class work days. I am still hesitant to use things like the online polling sites because A) I don't think it would work better for my purposes than paper and pencil or raised hands and B) as a person with a "dumb" phone and limited texting, I am sensitive to the kids who might feel uncomfortable by this kind of activity.
P.S. I still need whiteboards. :-)
You're not the only one who still doesn't have a white board!
