As a sixth grade English teacher, not many students have devices in the classroom. However, the ones that do are using them to read books in the small amount of time we have to read books. I admit that they love to read on their devices, which include phones, Kindles, Nooks, etc., but those students already loved to read:) One student, who doesn't love to read:( has already been caught playing games in classes (mine and another), when he was supposed to be reading/working on his device. Oh well, it's not unexpected.
My personal blog had a few comments, and I recently posted a generalized post for January. My goal is for students to make comments to each other while working on English, and get assistance with homework or projects. I have had a very few, but at least a few. Attempts will be made in the classroom to remind students to visit with each other, and me, on the blog for assistance while working.
